NO TIME FOR KARMA

Reminders for Old Souls

  • There is a spiritual path.  You are on the path.  Your path is different than any other person’s path.  Not better or worse than other paths, just different.  You can’t imitate the guru.  Be unique.
  • “Earth is the only game in which the objective of the game is to learn the rules.” (Ashley Brilliant)
  • You chose this incarnation and you chose wisely.  No one forced you to be born to your parents, in that particular environment.  You had something in mind when you chose this incarnation.
  • Earth is a school. You are in a grade.  Those who appear to you to be making poor choices in their lives are not wrong.  They just chose a different curriculum.
  • Unless you know another person’s entire karmic history you cannot know what step they need to take next.  Counsel them in a non-directive manner.
  • Everyone enrolled in Earth School to learn something.  They must take tests in order to graduate.  If you could prevent them from going through their tests you would be preventing them from graduating.  You can’t.
  • Your friends are learning something.  Don’t try to fix them.  Just be there for them.
  • How can you find your most expedient path to awakening?
    • “In the path of our happiness shall we find the learning for which we have chosen this lifetime.” (Donald Shimoda through Richard Bach)
    • “Follow your bliss.” (Joseph Campbell)
    • Chop wood and carry water (Buddhist saying)
  • Everyone awakens eventually. Why not now?
  • Three dimensional time space is an illusion, a high definition motion picture with surround sound played on the inside of your eye lids.
  • In order to take advantage of the learning opportunities provided for you by this Earth School you must believe it is real, at least some of the time.
  • Time is not linear. Could it be possible that each of our guardian angels is in reality our own self returned to help us after having attained awakening?
  • Nothing is random.  There are no accidents.  Consciousness creates reality.
  • God is love.  God is first cause.  God is all powerful.  God can have it any way God wants it.  Therefore nothing exists except love, appearances to the contrary.  You are God.  You are love.
  • God is not anthropomorphic. God has no ego or personality. God cannot be offended.  God cannot judge itself.  You are off the hook.
  • Human beings don’t know anything.  Accept that and the pressure will be off.
    • “To enter the kingdom of heaven become as a small child.” (Jesus)
  • What does it mean to be an Old Soul?  It means you are a slow learner. Be patient with yourself.
  • Mind can’t solve the world’s problems.  Hasn’t worked throughout history.  Won’t work in the future.
  • Mind is a great servant and a lousy master.
  • Taking situations seriously doesn’t make them go away.  Actually it makes them a little bit worse. (Ram Dass)
  • Holding situations in the light allows better options to become apparent.
  • You can’t push the river. Unto everything there is a season.  Your season will arrive when it arrives.  But it will arrive.
  • The evidence of the universe is self created to support your present belief system.  What you see tells you what you believe.
  • The game is not about getting high.  It is about getting free. (Ram Dass)
  • There are prophets and priests.  The prophets had a direct experience of life beyond three dimension time space.  The priests have second hand information, hearsay evidence. (Carol Parrish)
  • Bath in the glory of the prophets words.  Filter through your own intuition the words of the priests.
  • “Grace” means arriving at your awakening without having to pay your karmic debts first.
  • Release your belief systems which don’t make you happy and you will be on the path of Grace.
  • Don’t think too much.  The intellect makes a wonderful servant but a lousy master.
  • If we had an awareness of all the assistance we receive from the unseen realms every day we would be constantly overwhelmed with gratitude.
  • …due to the unprecedented influx of consciousness we are witnessing on the planet now, many people no longer need to go through the depth of acute suffering to be able to dis-identify from the pain-body.  Whenever they notice they have slipped back into a dysfunctional state, they are able to choose to step out of identification with thinking and emotion and enter the state of Presence. (Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth)
  • When you gain new insight, don’t get excited… because it doesn’t take long for your insight to change – to change right now before your very eyes… Even when it is correct knowledge, you can’t hold on to it. (Khao-Suan-Luan)
  • As spiritual students we live in a half-way house.

On one hand we study the words of the master teachers.  So we learn that the path to heaven is not one of doing.  The path is the path of the heart.  We struggle to learn that God, the universe, is good.  That the universe is compassionate.  The universe is on our side. God is love. God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent.  There is nothing that can’t be accomplished through God. If God is love and God is all powerful then the logical conclusion is that God allows nothing to exist except love.

On the other hand, we are humans with our karma to clear.  We have made mistakes along the way.  We have belief systems which guide our actions and our actions seem to have created lives which contain what we see as pain, sorrow, struggle, and paddling up stream, with occasional moments of joy and peace.  We each have particular causes, apparent injustices which we see in our families or in our world.  We feel driven to correct the injustices. How can we correlate the view of God’s universe as good with our perspective of the world as in error?

Our path includes recognizing that we are in the half-way house and honoring both sides of the house.  Our path to enlightenment is karma yoga, doing the best that we know how to do at the moment.  Looking for the indwelling God in those we feel are responsible for the world’s problems.  Recognize that we have our particular causes because we have our particular karma.  Where we refused to feed the hungry in the past we now, as awakening students, feel overwhelming compassion for the hungry. Whatever our cause it is related to our errors in judgment in the past.  But we don’t remember our past lives so we are unaware that we are working to heal our own karma.

As awakening spiritual students we must eventually come to understand that God allows nothing on this earth except love.  Everything is OK just the way it is.  People are clearing their karma so that they can return to love, peace and a never ending state of joy where all the pressure is off.

Also as spiritual students we recognize that our function is to end suffering in all forms.  The suffering is not an error.  It is not wrong.  We could say it is no more real than the suffering we saw the actors in the movie enduring.  And we know that to the earthly participants it is real.  It hurts.  We can see the possibility that those in pain chose to enroll in Earth School because it expedites the healing of the pain which they thought might go on forever in their minds.  They need us as a support group.

Our job is to do our best to end suffering without getting caught in the belief that harm is being done.  God does not allow harm.  God does not allow victims. The last step on the path to awakening is to come to terms with the facts.  God is good.  God is not a wimp who is helpless to end suffering.  God always opens the door to healing.

So we do our best to end suffering.  But our approach changes from fixing what is wrong “out there” to assisting in the healing of those who suffer.  Heal, don’t fix.

  • When we see evil in the world and process that evil with our intellect, we come to the conclusion that evil needs to be resisted.  The ego absolutely knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that our responsibility is to fix what is wrong on this planet.  “Resist not evil” (bible).  “All correction belongs to holy spirit” (ACIM).  Do the master teachers really know what they are talking about when they tell us to not resist evil?  A mind which responds with resistance to perceived evil is participating in war, not peace.  A mind which holds fear about a perceived evil is actually helping to perpetuate the evil because thoughts (positive or negative) held in mind manifest.  We have been resisting evil for so many lifetimes that this is difficult to grasp. It is difficult because it is one of the final lessons which free us from karmic repetitions.  This concept sets us free from fear, pain and struggle.  Honor your causes.  Do your best to end suffering.  The process should feel freeing and joyful, not heavy.  We use our mental powers to visualize what we want, not what we would resist.  Visualize peace.  Visualize green.  Visualize love between all kingdoms, human, Gaia, universal.  The Garden of Eden is returning to earth.  Nothing can stop it.  We have already gained critical mass.  Use your inner vision.  Sit in your meditation chair and ask for a vision of earth in one hundred years.  Beautiful, totally beautiful.  Can’t be stopped.
